Please feel free to post any promethean questions here or email me or just come find me and ask. I will do my best to answer the question or figure it out if I don't already know. Also, if you are planning to attend the PDP that Kristina and I will be giving after our next SS meeting, come with specific questions or tools you would like to learn about. I think Kristina and I will probably go over some basics, give an example of something we have done in the classroom, and then just allow you to ask questions.

Countdown
2 tools I use every morning are the countdown and the ticker tape. To use the countdown, go to "tools", then go to "more tools" then click on "clock." (sidenote: If you find that you are using this tool, or any other tool, frequently, you can customize your tool bar so that it is always one click away instead of having to go to "more tools" - I can show you guys how to do this at our next meeting. if you like shortcuts, Ctrl-Shift-U will also take you to the clock tool) A clock will pop up on your screen that looks like this.
You can then set up a countdown or a count up. Click on the arrow pointing down in the bottom right corner of the clock for a countdown. Click on the arrow pointing up for a count up. When you click on the arrows, a new window will open that allows you to customize your countdown. Set the hours, minutes, seconds you want the countdown programmed for. It also allows you to set up a sound to go off when the countdown reaches zero if you would like. Press "OK" when the countdown is set and it will automatically start. I use this every morning for 5 minutes for the focus question.
Ticker Tape (scrolling message)
Go to "tools" then go to "more tools" and click on "ticker tape" (Again, you can customize to have this always accessible in your main toolbar. Or you can use the Ctrl-Shift-T shortcut as well) When you click on ticker tape this window will pop up:
Where it says, "Enter your text message" - you should enter whatever text you want to scroll across the screen. You can change the font, color, and position of the scrolling message. Press "OK" when your message is ready. The message will continuously loop across the screen. Whenever the ticker tape is on, this box will appear somewhere on the screen:
This is where you can control the speed of the message. Click on the pause button to pause the scroll. Click on the ". . . " to edit the message. When you close this box, you turn off the ticker tape.
When a scanned image is in portrait view v. landscape view: Go to the actual document once you've imported it, click the "arrow" button, then double click on the document until you see the ")" with little arrows on the end (half moon shape with arrows on the end), click on that and then twist the document into landscape view!
REVEAL From the "Tools" menu, click on "Revealer" to use this tool. This allows you to hide notes/answers from students so they can copy the material as you are discussing it, not copying light years ahead of you! DUAL USER From the "Tools" menu, click on Dual User to use both the light gray and dark gray pen
